Solution to yesterday’s problem:

Let’s use the blanks method to solve this problem. Each blank will represent a day of the week:

____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____

For the first day, Sunday, Meg can wear any of her three dresses without worrying about dress principles.

__3__ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____

On the second day, Meg can wear any of her dresses except the one she wore on Sunday, which leaves two.

__3__ __2__ ____ ____ ____ ____ ____

On the third day, Meg can also wear any of her dresses except the one she wore on Monday. This pattern continues for the entire week.

__3__ __2__ __2__ __2__ __2__ __2__ __2__

Multiplying these possibilities, we find that she has 192 ways to dress in a week.
